“Gogoşerie”

One of the best donut/pretzel shops in Romania can be found in Sibiu just off the Piata Mare. The ‘Gogoși’ are Romanian sweet pastries similar to filled doughnuts…pieces of dough shaped into a flattened ball that are deep-fried in oil and dusted with icing sugar then filled with either chocolate, apricot jam, strawberry jam or cream cheese. The ‘Covrigi’, Romanian pretzel, is probably one of the most common street foods in Romania.
